Water Quality

Blackpool has a marine frontage of about 11.25 kilometres, all of which is protected from erosion by the sea wall, which needs constant maintenance.

Blackpool's sea water passed strict new EU laws in 2015 with one stretch being classed as 'excellent'. Work continues to improve bathing waters further through the Fylde peninsula water management partnership, Turning Tides and the LOVEmyBEACH campaign.
